All Maine Coon kittens are born with blue eyes that change color as they age, just like in humans and other mammals. Most change to a green or gold color, unless they are a solid white Maine coon. White Maine Coons often times present with blue eyes or 2 different colored eyes, known as odd eyes due to the white masking gene that makes them all white. However, quite rarely, Maine coons that are not totally white, will also grow up to have both blue or 2 different colored eyes. This is due to genetics from the green-eyed gene that creates natural colored blue and odd eyes.
Their beauty is quite mesmerizing. These rare blue and odd eye colored Maine coons will also have a certain degree of the white gene in the coat coloring as well.
Blue eye and odd eyed Kittens will inherit the trait from the genetics of the parents. To naturally inherit this trait, one or both have to have the genes as a recessive, or one parent has a recessive and the other parent processes the anomaly themselves, showing it to be a gene mutation that could be passed on.
